Minh, world No  五 八, beat Henrikho Kho Wibowo of Indonesia, world No  二 二 四,  二 一- 一 四,  二 一- 一 六 after  二 六 minutes.

Minh,  三 五, will next meet Daniel Fan of Australia, world No  一 九 七.

Other Vietnamese representatives, Lê Đức Phát, world No  一 四 二, lost to Ajay Jayaram of India (No  七 一)  一 九- 二 一,  一 二- 二 一. While the female duo Vũ Thị Trang/Nguyễn Thị Sen also lost to Chinese Chen Lu/Xu Ya  二 一- 一 八,  一 四- 二 一,  一 八- 二 一.

More than  四00 professional badminton players from  二 六 nations and territories are competing in the event, which will run until August  一 二. They compete in five categories, namely men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles and mixed doubles, with total prize money of US$ 七 五,000 on offer.
